Chair of Governors - an introduction (June 2021)

“Hi my name is Claire Gardner and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the newly elected interim Chair of Governors at St Mary’s Church in Wales Primary School. I am currently Service Manager for Education Transformation and Business Change, and a published researcher within the field of Psychology. Having worked in a leadership role within the Blaenau Gwent Council’s Education Directorate for the last 10 years, I am extremely passionate about education and the opportunities it creates, along with its ability to positively impact upon the lives of children, young people and families. I have significant experience and working knowledge of education within Wales, which I intend to use to do the best job I possibly can for both the school and wider community. I live in Brynmawr with my partner, our son who currently attends St Mary’s Church in Wales Primary School and our two rescue greyhounds. I am extremely excited about undertaking this new role and look forward to meeting and working with you all.”

Vice Chair of Governors - an introduction (June 2021)

“My name is Luisa Munro-Morris, and I would like to introduce myself as a newly appointed governor to the St Mary’s Governing Body. I very much look forward to working with the families, young people and staff in St Mary’s and to making a positive contribution to the life chances of all the pupils in the school. I am a headteacher and so have a really good understanding of education in Wales and I am also currently seconded to the role of Head of School Improvement and Inclusion in the Local Authority, a role I will be taking on full time in September. I grew up in the church, and was a Sunday School teacher for a number of years, and this has given me my strong Christian values which permeate all aspects of my work and family life. I am the very proud mum of two young children, who keep me very busy, along with three slightly crazy dogs.”
